Fish Identification Class
Have you ever been scuba diving and asked yourself or your buddy, “What is that fish?” or wanted to learn more about fish behavior?
If so, the Fish Identification Class is for you!
Denise will be doing a Fish Identification Class at Fort Lauderdale Beach. There is some academics to review (with quizzes) to do first (anytime between now & then, on your own schedule), and then we hit the water. Students will do 2 beach dives, between 8am-3pm that day.
The Fish ID class is a VERY fun class; afterwards divers find they enjoy their dives even more when they recognize the fish they see.
The skills learned throughout this class can be used on ALL future scuba dives, because once you learn the main fish families and their characteristics it will help decipher fish species you see all over the world. For example, an angelfish in the Caribbean has a similar shape to an angelfish in Southeast Asia, but their colors and markings may be totally different. If you know what fish family a particular fish belongs to, it becomes much easier to look up the local name or at least be able to intelligently ask the locals what you saw. That works better than asking about a “yellow thingy with a funny tail fin”.
To enroll in this course, you need to be open water certified!
Course fee is $199, which includes your academic materials, dive training, scuba gear rental, & certification card processing.
This class can also be counted for divers completing Specialty Classes for their Master Scuba Diver Rating with either SDI.
